Swim Meet 101
Marking Meet Attendance:
We ask that parents please mark whether or not their swimmer will be attending each meet by Tuesday at 11:00 AM (the day before the meet). We are not able to add swimmers after this deadline. To mark attendance, please go to the Meets & Events tab on our website, click on Meet Signup and Calandar , and follow the steps provided.
Meet Information:
Our swim meet schedule has not yet been finalized for the season. Once it is available, it will be posted and regularly updated on our website. Please check back often for the most current information.
When you arrive at a meet, please have your swimmer check in with a coach right away. Coaches will provide each swimmer with a name slip that lists their events, heats, strokes, and relay assignments (if applicable). This is how we take attendance, so it is important that every swimmer checks in.
We recommend that swimmers (or parents of younger swimmers) write event numbers on their forearms with Sharpie to help keep track of when and where they need to be (example below). We also ask that you write your swimmer’s first and last name on their back to help our bullpen workers.
Bullpen by Ages:
- Ages 5-10: Will need help keeping track of events and getting to the bullpen on time.
- Ages 11-12: Will sometimes have a bullpen depending on the meet; if not, they should follow the same expectations as ages 13-18.
- Ages 13-18: Are responsible for knowing where we are in the meet and getting themselves behind the blocks in a reasonable amount of time.
At the bullpen, swimmers will be organized by event and escorted to their assigned lanes. Helping run the bullpen is a volunteer role at home meets. We will also need parent volunteers to serve as timers at both home and away meets.
Coaches will be on deck for most of the meet, cheering on swimmers, offering support, and advice. After each race, swimmers should check in with a coach for feedback and encouragement.
Team suits are not required but are highly encouraged. Please note that swimmers may not wear another team’s logo on their suit or cap during competition.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
